National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day – Celebrates 30 years

01-May-2019

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is held on the 4th of August each year, each year Goonimoo recognises this day of significance and celebrates this event to showcase the strengths and cultures of our children.

The theme for the Children’s Day 2018 is celebrating Our Children for 30 years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are the youngest people from the longest living culture in the world, with rich traditions that are passed down from generation to generation.

Goonimoo recognise that this day as an opportunity for all Australians to show their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children as well as learn about the crucial impact that community, culture and family play in the role of every child. For our children to grow up strong with connection to family, community and country we as Educators must provide these opportunities that see our children as the centre of our families and the heart of our community. Our children are our future and the carriers of our story.
